2016 Walk for Babies

Proceeds benefit NICU at Akron Children's Hospital

More than 1500 people gathered together Sunday morning at the 10th annual Walk for Babies, and it was a great success. We had more teams sign up this year than in 2015- a total of 103 teams worked together to raise $101,206. This brings our 10 year total to more than $800,000 that Walk for Babies has raised for the NICU at Akron Children’s Hospital. As always, 100% of the money that the teams raise is donated to the NICU at Akron Children’s Hospital.

Breaking a 9 year tradition, Shelby Snellenberger took the microphone in hand to kickoff the event. After that, we got to hear some very inspiring words from Akron Children’s Hospital CEO Bill Considine, followed by 30 year veteran NICU Nurse Laurie Fortune. There was not a dry eye in the house as we all got a glimpse into the passion and love that this NICU Nurse has. This was all followed up by a video made by NICU grad parent Vince Spicocchi from four2nine Productions. Have your tissues handy when you watch this video, which highlights 10 different NICU families.

We will post candid photos from the walk to our Flickr page as soon as possible.

If you have not done so already, like us on Facebook . This is a great way to stay current with us.

Once the Team photos are available, we will make them available on this Eagle Eye website, for those you may want to order prints.

Due to overwhelming demand, we are going to do a second run of event shirts. If you would like to order shirts, please email us at walk4babies@gmail.com

As always, the raffle was big and full of great items, thanks to the team at All Fired Up pottery studio.
